A Home for Seniors

There are many community projects specifically run by senior members on dA. This article aims to highlight a few of them and introduce different places on deviantART that serve as an online nursing home of sorts.

This channel highlights senior news, often hosts senior run events, and serves as a friendly hangout for all kinds of artists.

Groups

Groups on deviantART foster some of deviantART's tightest communities. Groups relating to the senior member community are no exception. Projects, article series, and contests are all held in these various groups. Watching them will help you stay up to date and connected with senior members. 

 
This group highlights senior projects and serves as a homebase for senior related activity. A lot of important articles come through dAseniors, and it offers information on seniors and community events.

 
 
seniormentors is a mentoring project for the community. Seniors serve as mentors, and any deviant can sign up to
be mentored. It's a great way to get 1:1 help from an experienced member. 

 
This wonderful project is run by seniors. The aim of the project is to produce features that highlight amazing art from the community. Reading their articles is  a wonderful way to discover new art.

These two official groups are the Staff/Volunteer  run groups that highlight and produce important community happenings, contests, and projects. Although these groups are run by staff members/community volunteers, many of these deviants were formerly senior members or future senior members. (When a CV's term is complete, they are awarded seniority for their effort!) 


Although not a senior-specific group, many active contributors are seniors. This project is awesome and provides countless resources for the community.

Senior Exclusive Forum

In addition to groups, events, and chatrooms dedicated to seniors, seniors also have access to the senior member forum. Here, seniors/cvs/ staff members talk about a wide variety of topics. Sometimes, discussions kickstart new projects!

Although other members cannot view Senior forums, they can still be involved in a ton of other ways!

Oh no, not another journal about this!

So after going through some backlog, I saw Thiefoworld's poll, "Should people be allowed to suggest themselves for seniority?" where he asks for your opinions on whether one should be allowed to suggest themselves for seniority or not. Farand had posted a suggestion thread suggesting the reasons for making someone a senior be made publicly available.
What are your thoughts/opinions on these matter?
You can most certainly write your thoughts about it in the poll and/or that specific suggestion, but are also welcome to put your opinions in here additionally if you wish.

Hello! I will tell you a bit about the basics on how to become a Senior or Community Volunteer.
The fine finishings and last step to be a Senior or Community Volunteer you must accomplish by your own.

Seniors are chosen by fourteenthstar. She reviews each Senior suggestion you send to her as a note and posts a Seniority Announcement Journal with a list of deviants she choosed who deserve a Seniority `tick. There is no set schedule for when these announcements occur.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to projecteducate's first Senior Week!
What is Senior Week?
Senior Week was brought to life in order to help bring light to the efforts of Senior Members among our community.  Some of the group admins of dAseniors and seniormentors as well as other Senior Members have come together and planned a fun-filled and informative schedule of events for this week (YES THERE ARE PRIZES YAY).
